Flags de constructed, originally posted because there was a short motion graphic of all the different components of the flags flashing up on the screen but I can't embed it onto my blog. Simply outstanding project, using all the basic simple elements that make up the world flags completely stripped down and deconstructed and re-arranged in a beautiful set of simple geometric shapes.
Also really interesting to see how they have branded the exhibition and the different print methods / scales that have been used. I particularly like the book covers with the embossed and foiled print giving the shapes a bold contrast to the grey fabric covering the book.

Arrogance / Mutualism
Design by Bricktz
Love this idea of posters that you can rotate and retain legibility and effectively communicate the message being delivered. Don't think I am politically minded enough to work in this area of design but it would be nice to experience at some point. Bricktz have produced some wonderful work recently, defiantly going to be a nice source of inspiration this year, just a shame I didn't find this work during the print module.

Print Manual
Print manual, the format was actually a mistake while saving the files but it works surprising well so I Im going to stick with it.
Brands
I wanted to take another look at some brands as I feel I have far more direction with my project now and can relate to the ways they promote themselves and how they create an identity.
First is once again swamp81 but with a much more in depth analysis at how they deal with creating a unique identity that has proved so successful.

Print Examples
Some flyer / poster designs I picked up in town to get a better idea of how nights running in Leeds are promoted. Particularly liked the use of uncoated stocks, although the colours arn't as vibrant the texture makes up for it. The two poster designs on the pastel stocks are particularly good as they are so cheap to produce using black and white and can be photocopied for about 2p a print.

Lovely example of creative binding here, a saddle stitch down the spine and green foil block letting on the front. A few processes that I want to explore within my vinyl project - Trying to achieve the texture of a vinyl through print?

Anarchy

I really like the contrast between the crisp simple type and textured background. The quotes are taken from old 80s pop tracks using software to scan for alliteration they wrote. The digitally printed posters are available from their website.

Finnish Design
Design by Gary Rizzolo
Playful album cover design for a Finnish psychedelic garage rock band. Such a simple idea but has a wonderful final effect.

78 Content
I feel like the label has no contextual identity or audience at the moment, I want to focus on bass and rap driven music because these are the main areas that vinyl are excelling in. I want the visual identity to be simple with running themes, including the repeated versions of the 78 logo. As well as the branding and promotional material for the label I wanted to create a vinyl pack / poster design that kicks start the

Stocks
Some of the stocks that I have collected for the project, really keen on the way the grey and pastels compliment each other. All similar gsms, I want to think about duplexing the paper so will try out sticking it together and seeing colour strips on the side. (sorry about the appalling photos)

Such a simple idea but so effective when digitalised and put into context, the poster was created as a response to a desigers manifesto. The18x24 posters is perforated into 56 wallet sized cards with the manifesto printed on them. Again with this project its the fact that you can interact and take something home from it which stops it being immediately pushed out of mind.

Vinyl Shopping
Went on a bit of a hunt to get some vinyls to get a better idea for the feel of the stocks used in relation to gsm and coated / uncoated etc. All were really cheap average was about £1.50 could look into showing people where to get cheap vinyl.
7" Vinyls to be used for my pack, special release I am thinking about maybe spray painting them to see how different coloured vinyls work with the pack.
Can put stickers over this section to really represent how the final product would look.
I really like this duo tone cover, the textured photograph and bold colour scheme drew me to it.
If it wasnt for the cowboy image the text and image composition could have been really interesting, I like the retro feel could think about referencing my type to this.
