With rain having such an obvious relation to religion and the natural world I felt this would be a nice path to explore. Possible outcomes of these explorations could be type as image variations thinking about the relevance of stock / colours etc.
My only worry for this route is that D&AD is a contemporary global creative so I would have to make the format reflect this. I also need to think about how I could make it more related to the north or even the UK keeping with the content of the talk.
- Psalms 147:8 'Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.'
- James 5:18 'Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit'
Research came to a bit of a dead end with the biblical quotes so I started thinking about other religions and what their opinions on rain are - bearing in mine that the UK perspective is far more negative than most other cultures. Also need to relate back to the brief thinking about rains nicer connotations - romance, useful, beautiful
Islamic quote - 'It is God who sends rain from the sky, bringing forth buds and green leaves on every plant'
