Sound synchronisation

Sound Synchronisation
"Audio to video synchronization (also known as audio video sync, audio/video sync, AV-sync, lip sync, or by the lack of it: lip sync error, lip-flap) refers to the relative timing of audio (sound) and video (image) parts during creation, post-production (mixing), transmission, reception and play-back processing. When sound and video have a timing related cause and effect, AV-sync can be an issue in television, videoconferencing, or film." - Taken from Wikipedia

Video for Chemical Brothers - Star guitar - By Michael Gondry
All the different elements of the video represent the different beats in the song, and although its not motion graphics its a wonderful way of representing the audio through visuals. It also works well with the concept of form follows function with each element of the video having purpose and meaning.

"The video is based on DV footage Gondry shot while on vacation in France; the train ride between Nîmes and Valence was shot ten different times during the day to get different light gradients."

I love this approach and think it could work really well for some of my videos. Did a brief test but the music I choose was a bit to glitchy and was complicated to get the movements to audio relationship precise. There is another video using the same technique for Daft Punk - Around the world done using people moving around the stage, the stage representing the record, decided against posting it because youtube looks disgusting on my blog and I couldn't find a link on vimeo.
