"The air max 90 was referred to as the air max or air max III until 2000. It takes its current name form its launch year 1990.

The first colour way produced was the mens white, black, cool grey and red. It was striking to say the least; the radiant red around the visible air window exaggerated the thickness of the midsole and the matching thermoplastic straps and rubber hell patch added to overall effect. The upper was made of duromesh, synthetic swede and synthetic leather. The clean lines in dazzling colours made the air max highly sought after. In that same year, nike produced several leather limited edition models in several colour ways. The all black leather model is particularly rare and there was some truly amazing versions released in 2002. Nike launched air max and python-inspired edition. Both of these were i high demand from sneaker collectors, this model is especially favored in europe. "

Information couldn't possible be more helpful. Would really help for my design work knowing the proper terms and information for the trainer. I defiantly want to focus my work onto the air max 90, and maybe even the initial release / infrared. 


More research / technical information about the Air Max 90 Infrared - 

"The Air Max 90 infrared was the first in the Air Max line up to have a colored air unit,and the uppers had a sock like fit, so now it was more like you were “one” with your shoes. The AM 93s air bubble had more which means greater protection. This involved gas being injected through an external that forced plastic into the mold.

The Nike Air Max 90 Shoes was first released in 1993, and is known for the 270 degree exposed Nike Air Unit, in other words the air bubble at the heel. On the 25th Anniversary of the Nike Air Max 90 Shoes saw some improvements, such as obtaining a single standard cup for better fit and a soft interior to the smooth operation ever.

The uppers on the Nike Air Max was made of Duromesh, synthetic suede and synthetic leather. But was it the material that made the Air Max 90 so sought after, or the nice color ways?
