Ideas

We have come up with lots of ideas through brainstorming and talking as a group,  these are just brief descriptions of each one and some pros and cons for each idea.

Idea 1 - Online
Create an online resource where people can add new things to do as well as the ones we suggest. People can connect with friends adding a social element and in turn an inceptive to try new things.

Pros - Idea of friends may make people far more committed and interested trying new things.
Cons - Its would be hard to set up this resource and see it pick up over the time we have in the brief.

Idea 2 - USB Poster Designs
Poster designs with the cardboard USB sticks that you can take off and take away, pass on etc. The USBs would all contain sets of new things to do depending on which category people took from the posters. People could also track where they last had the USB and who they passed it onto to see how far the ideas spread. (this idea could also be used with CDs - similar pros and cons for both)

Pros - Physical idea, something people can take away might make them more interested. Could be left in a very specific area to relate to the target audience.
Cons - Expensive, people might not trust putting the USB into their computers because of viruses etc.

Idea 3 - Birthday Cards
Send out birthday cards for 30th, 40th and 50th birthdays with new things to do within that year of the birthday. The friends would write the new things to do which would mean the person sending the card would know to an extent what the person had already done. They could then update when they had completed the task through a set up website where people can see what has been going on.
The card could be made using an online resource, similar to 'moonpig' but not as graphically disgusting, where they are given different things to do and also have the option to add new things.

Pros - The things to do would be relevant to the person, motivational, clear target audience
Cons - There might be a lack of incentive, find to hard new things for people of this age.]

Idea 4 - Do Day - (Chosen route)
Working on a much more local scale promote a single day encouraging people to do at least one new thing. We propose to leave marked envelopes around so that people can find out about the event just through walking through Leeds.

We will also go out handing out flyers and putting up posters / stickers etc all with the 'Do Day' logo and simple ideas of new things to do on them. Hopefully get people of all ages involved.

We have also taken an online approach making a facebook / twitter page to keep it accessible to most people. On the pages there are our own suggested new things to do and people can leave their own, it also offers a place for people to leave their feedback on the new activities and tell us what they got up to.

Pros - Much smaller task which will make it much easier to get people involved. Facebook / twitter - easily accessible and people don't have to sign up to use it, easily spread and easy to get feedback on what people thought of the day
Cons - Again its giving people the incentive to get involved in the tasks

Idea 5 - Calendar
Giving people a calendar with new things to do, aimed to be released next year. Would consist of really little tasks that wouldn't interupt peoples regular routine but hopefully alter them for the better.

Really interesting vesstle to design but thinking to much about our methods before the content and idea.
